Cookie policy
How this website uses cookies, and how to control them.
The short version
This website does not use cookies to remember you, track you or build a profile of you. There is no analytics, no advertising and no social media tracking. Our host’s network sets one short-lived security cookie. If you choose to start a live chat, the chat service sets cookies so the conversation works. There is no cookie banner because there is nothing to ask your consent for.
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small file that a website asks your browser to store. Cookies are commonly used to keep you logged in, remember preferences, or count and follow visitors. This policy also covers technologies that do a similar job, such as local storage, pixels and device fingerprinting.
Our own pages store nothing on your device and read nothing from it. That includes site search, which runs in your browser, and the introduction film, which is hosted on our own site rather than on YouTube or Vimeo. We checked this on the site on 2 November 2026.
One cookie, from our host’s network
The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which sets one cookie, called
__cf_bm. It lasts 30 minutes and is used only to tell automated traffic from
real visitors, so the site stays available. It is strictly necessary, so it does not need
your consent, and it is not used to identify or follow you.
Live chat, only if you start one
The “Talk to us” chat is provided by tawk.to. Nothing from tawk.to loads until you click the button. When you do, tawk.to sets cookies and stores information in your browser so your conversation stays connected as you move between pages, and so it can be picked up again if you come back. Because these are needed for a chat you have asked to start, they do not need separate consent. If you never click the button, tawk.to is never contacted.
See the tawk.to privacy policy for more.
| Name | Type | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
twk_uuid_… | Cookie | Recognises your browser so a returning visitor’s conversation can be picked up again | 6 months |
TawkConnectionTime | Cookie | Keeps your chat connected as you move between pages | Until you close the browser |
twk_idm_key | Cookie | Keeps your chat connected as you move between pages | Until you close the browser |
twk_…, twk_token_… | Local storage | Holds the state of your chat in your browser | Until cleared |
Google Fonts
The site loads its typefaces from Google. When a page opens, your browser requests the font files from Google’s servers, so Google receives your IP address and basic information about your browser. Google states that it does not set cookies for the Google Fonts service. Our privacy policy covers this too.
The bot check on our enquiry forms
The enquiry forms on our homepage and Contact page carry a check from Cloudflare, called Turnstile, that tells people from automated spam without a puzzle in most cases. Its script loads from Cloudflare’s servers when one of those pages opens, so Cloudflare receives your IP address, as it already does in delivering the site. Cloudflare states that Turnstile uses only the information it needs for that security check, and in the mode we use it sets no cookie.
Server logs
Like any website, ours is served by a hosting provider that keeps standard server logs: the pages requested, the time, and the IP address making the request. They are used to keep the site running and secure. They are not cookies and are not used to identify or follow individual visitors.
Controlling cookies
Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies; aboutcookies.org explains how. Blocking cookies will not affect this website, although the live chat may not work. You can always call us on 01296 696700 instead.
If this changes
If we ever add analytics or anything else that sets a cookie which is not strictly necessary, we will update this policy and ask for your consent before those cookies are set.
